Ohio mom spared death for microwaving baby

I was disgusted when I heard of this woman, I normally do not feel the death sentence is necessary, in this case I figured she would receive it. I can not imagine this person in prison, She is sure to be beaten up allot. I still feel she should be microwaved...animals are kinder than this person when they kill.

More proof that children have no rights in our country. They are the most innocent and most deserving of protection under the law. But they have no voice, cannot vote and cannot donate to campaign coffers. Hence, although as human beings we ought to protect them we consistently fail to do so. We fail to do this by allowing the most vicious acts of murder and deviant behavior to be perpetrated on them and then this ridiculous verdict: the sentence of 25 (maybe) years for a mother who burns her newborn alive from the inside out. What a sick and vile justice system we have. God help us.

This country consistently lets killer mothers off light, remember Susan Smith? She strapped her babies in a car and rolled them in a lake, she has her own fan club in prison. Andrea Yates, she knew just what hour she would be alone to drown her 5 children and she did it deliberately, but she is in a psyche ward. The microwave killer should be exterminated like any varmin. Being drunk is no excuse.

Unbelievable! She does not get the death penalty! I am shocked. Such a horrific crime, I can't imagine what is the jury is thinking of. I so agree with: liz omps.... And what exactly is the point of keeping this woman alive? What a waste of tax dollars to let her rot in a cell.

I was disgusted with the decision too. The women deserved to fry. Then I came to the realization that a black girl baby was killed by her black mother. The defendent is doing a good (not great) job of reducing the black population which I am sure is what the true intent of the jury was.

God forgive all of us. This girl should have been aborted . But NO! Abortion is wrong,LMFAO! This is what you get .

Mike that wasn't called for, you don't have to bring race into this! A human being is a human being regardless of the color of skin, however there are human beings and then there are MONSTERS. I think that this MONSTER should of gotten the death penalty, this is a horrific crime. The jury was way off base on this one!

This is why drunks make bad parents. There is no such thing as a drunk parent who is also a good parent.

I just do not see a drunk putting the baby in the microwave and the goes "oops, I was just drunk." Absolutely disqusting! She had this inner concious of not wanting her baby - drunk or not. I'm truly enraged. Anyone can be a "responsible drunk" and still love their children by having someone to care for them while they plan to drink and will not be in their controled state. If any to drink, it shouldn't be around children.

I can't even begin to put into words what I think should happen to this monster. What I can say is even tho this was one of the most horrific things I ever heard about, this little baby is at peace now. She was spared a childhood of torture. I hate to think of what her first month of life was like.

I can't believe the jury let her live- she was drunk when she put her baby in a microwave...think about that. A grown woman with a newborn got so deep in the bottle she was "unaware" that her daughter was in the microwave.

The jury let her live...why? What productive life will she lead in prison? She contributed nothing to society when she was free, she will contribute nothing while in jail.

If it's true that women who kill their children are destroyed by the other inmates of their prison, then hopefully she'll be killed within a year.

While I am one to support the death penalty whole heartedly, maybe this is the correct punishment for her. Death is an easy way out for this one, where now, she'll get to face 8 x 8 walls each day, to other women wanting to beat the hell out of her daily. Death or punishment daily for a life sentance? If the life sentance doesn't turn out to be 5 years, it will suit!

Drunk is NO excuse, NO defense, no matter who you are. This is another good case example of being asked to tolerate the intolerable, and embrace behavior that is at best, contmeptable. This woman should be executed. We are in a society that keeps allowing mothers to get away with murder, literally.

It is a sickening example of society demanding again that we as a nation preserve the life of murderers, rapists, child molesters lest we infringe on their rights - well, what about the their victims? Aren't victims deserving of rights? Didn't that baby have a right to life? Why on earth is this "mother" being allowed to live?

Firing squads should be brought back. Bullets are cheap compared to the cost of housing this woman. Death sentenences need to be carried out swiftly. Why should the taxpayers foot the bill so she can have 3 squares a day, cable TV, air conditioning, and medical care? Why should she be rewarded for such a horrible act?

I believe that the death penality should only be used in heinous crimes such as this.

It's too bad that taxpayers are going to be footing the bill to keep this woman fed, clothed, housed, and with medical care, too, after what she did to her child. Microwaving an innocent baby isn't reason enough for the death penalty? Cases such as this are exactly what Capital Punishment is for. What was wrong with those jurors anyway? Didn't any of them think of what that poor baby experienced and felt being cooked alive in that microwave? God help this country. If she was going to get drunk, she should have left her child with a sitter. And if she was drunk, it makes one wonder if she was breast feeding her child, too. Guess it doesn't matter now. It's too bad punishments don't fit the crime. Those twelve jurors were the ones to decide that the rest of us would have to support this woman the rest of her life-because they didn't feel death was a proper punishment for murdering an innocent, helpless baby. How very sad.

Are you kidding me?!!!! She microwaved her baby and did it while intoxicated and SHE gets to live? I can totally understand the whole " she'll pay worse in jail " for her crime bit ..however...that is only gonna last so long. And the taxpayers are gonna foot the bill for this idiot to SURVIVE and EAT and BATHE and MEDICAL EXPENSE and electricity ect. its bull!!!! We could so use ALL of those resources for the victoms or just good people in general that actually are productive humans and could use the help rather than give these MONSTERS the right to ANYTHING let alone their lives after the acts they have commited.Send them directly to hell where they belong. OR if they MUST have the RIGHT to life ...keep them in a prison where they MUST actually do something productive to live ...like growing their own food and making their own clothes and no a/c just like in the beginning. I dont mean to sound crude or ineducated but in my opinion F*** them, they do not deserve any rights, let alone being treated in a humane manner.

I Totally agree, we should not have to pay to keep her alive. The baby had no jurors to defend her when the supid drunk lifted her from her bed and put her in the microwave to die a horrible horrible death. I think we should build a big microwave and let her see how it feels. And then save it for more morans. But then again, God's justice will be worse. Praise GOD!

Yes it did cross my mind actually! The baby is in heaven where it belongs in the arms of an angel. Not enduring the life of more pain and agony from a drunk mother. We can only pray that his merciful hands did not let that baby suffer in the microwave.

Despicable and totally disgusting. Hope inmates at wherever she is held hold court against her. She surely does not warrant segregation from them. If this would happen, the judge should be prosecuted as well. She deserves what she gets. Give her a large bedsheet and a place to hang it. Keep the ACLU out of it.
